Exploring the Sensual World of Essential Oils

I’ve been asked a few times about what essential oils can help with libido and intimacy. With St. Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought I’d explore this topic a bit more!

In the realm of aromatherapy, essential oils have long been celebrated for their potential to influence mood, enhance relaxation, and even kindle the flames of passion. From ancient civilizations to modern holistic practices, certain oils have gained a reputation for their association with love, libido, and sexual well-being. In this blog, we’ll explore the world of essential oils, and uncover their potential benefits to create an intimate atmosphere. We’ll even point you in the right direction to our own products you can try to get in the mood!

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: The Enticing Elixir of Romance

Known for its enticing floral aroma, Ylang Ylang (pronounced ‘lang lang’) has been revered for centuries as an aphrodisiac. Hailing from the Cananga tree, this essential oil is believed to promote relaxation and sensuality. Its enticing fragrance makes it a popular choice that creates a romantic ambiance, which invites individuals to connect on a deeper, more intimate level. However, I personally find it a bit too overwhelming to be honest, but some people swear by it.

Exploring the Sensual World of Essential Oils can include trying Ylang Ylang - the yellow ylang ylang flower here in its natural habitat.

Sandalwood Essential Oil: Woody WArmth and Tranquility

Sandalwood, with its warm and woody notes, is not just a fragrant wood but a potential enhancer of intimacy. This gorgeous essential oil is known for its calming properties, it may help reduce anxiety and stress. It also creates an environment conducive to relaxation and connection. Its subtle yet distinct aroma makes it a favorite in blends designed to promote sensuality and emotional balance. We use it as a base note for our Tranquility blend in our Bath Meditation Soaks, Soaps and Shower Clouds for this very reason. It’s also my favourite essential oil of all time!

Rose Essential Oil: A Timeless Symbol of Love

The timeless symbol of love, the scent of rose essential oil is synonymous with romance. The oil is extracted from delicate rose petals, and has a sweet and romantic fragrance, associated with love and passion throughout history. Accordingly, if you Incorporate rose oil into your aromatherapy routine, it may help create an atmosphere of love and warmth, perfect for intimate moments. However, you need to start saving! Rose Otto essential oil is not cheap, coming in at (AUD) $2,420.00 for 100 mls (3 fluid ounces)!!

For that reason, this makes it more expensive than gold. It’s so expensive because of the difficulty in extracting the oil from the rose petals. About 40 TONS of rose petals make up just 300g (10 oz) of essential oil. Furthermore, its flowers are harvested by hand in the morning before sunrise, and the material is distilled the same day. Is it worth it? Well…I ripped up 20 of my Dad’s prized rose bushes when I was a little girl because I wanted to make my own rose water so…

Explore the sensual world of essential oils, long celebrated for their potential to influence moods, with roses. You need plenty of money for Rose Otto oil though!

Jasmine: A Sensual Blossom

Jasmine, with its heady and enticing scent, has long been associated with sensuality. Derived from the delicate jasmine flower, the essential oil is believed to have mood-enhancing properties. Incorporating jasmine into your aromatherapy routine may contribute to the creation of a romantic ambiance, fostering an atmosphere of warmth and connection. It may also adversely affect your stress levels however! Why? Following on from Rose Otto, it is also very expensive. 100 ml of jasmine oil can cost (AUD) $759.00. A kilo costs $6,820! Why so expensive? To put it simply, Jasmine’s output is really small, with more than 8 million flowers required to extract one kilo. Additionally, harvesters need to handpick over 500 jasmine buds to extract one drop of oil. Wow! Let that sink in….(no pun intended)! Compared to Rose Otto essential oil though, it’s practically a bargain…
